Dear Mountain View Elementary Family and Friends,
I cannot believe how fast the year is flying by! We are only a few weeks away from Spring Break. If your family is like mine, you are already staring at your calendar trying to decide how you will balance spring sport practices and the demands of school. Please help your children find balance and stay focused on school.
February was a very busy month at MVES.
Read Across America week was a great success. Our students and staff really enjoyed showing their school spirit.
Our MVES All County Chorus members led by Mr. Nazimek WOWED their audience! In order to be a member of the All County Chorus, 5th grade students had to audition in front of a selection committee. Once selected, All County Chorus Members practiced before school in order to prepare for their performance which took place at Patriot High School.
Our students had an opportunity to meet Olympic athletes, environmental scientists, business leaders, law enforcement officers, musicians, physicians and members of the military – just to name a few of the careers that were highlighted during Career Day.
I also learned this month that MVES students definitely have talent! Musicians, comedians, magicians, dancers, gymnasts, and vocalists - all of our MVES students were amazing at the Talent Show! Our PTO went above and beyond to ensure a highly entertaining fund raiser that highlighted our MVES students and their talents.
A special THANK YOU to the many parents and community members who joined us for Career Day and supported our students behind the scenes with all of our events. These events could not have been successful without our parent volunteers!
The 4th Grade Writing Predictor (March 7, 2013) and the 5th Grade Writing SOL’s (March 12 and 14th) are right around the corner. Our teachers and students have worked very hard to prepare for these assessments. Please be sure your child has a good night sleep before these assessments and eats a healthy breakfast the day of the assessments so that he/she will be at their best.
I hope you will join us on March 19 from 6:00 to 7:00 pm for Curriculum Night! This will be a fun filled night of Science, Math, Social Studies and Reading related games and activities. We hope to see you there!
Don’t miss Kindergarten Registration - April 11 and April 25th! If you have children who will be age 5 by September 30, 2013 please be sure to join us for Kindergarten Registration. Please share this information with neighbors who have children who will be Kindergarten age in the fall of 2013. It is very important that you do not wait to register your children for Kindergarten. We want to ensure that we have the very best teachers at MVES – if we need to hire additional staff, it is very difficult to find the very best teachers in late August.
Once again, thank you all for your continued support of MVES. Teachers, support staff, parents and students working together, we are an example of Excellence in Action!
